He "needs time to think" about us but now wants to see again?

Some guys are finicky. There could have been something that happened, when things stopped being "normal", that triggered his push away. It could have been something superficial too. You can't control him, and if he wants space, give him the space. In the meantime, it's up to you what you want to do, relationship-wise. If you're not an exclusive couple, you can pursue other interests until he decides whether he wants to be together again.
